GETTING STARTED COLLECTING BEER STEINS

“Collecting beer steins, beer mugs, decanters, lidded or unlidded has become one of the fastest growing hobbies in America today,” says Robert Lamson of Bob Lamson Beer Steins Inc. in Allentown Pennsylvania. Men and women love these beautiful ceramic, glass and pewter steins. Steins have become so popular with so many people because there is usually something for everyone. Themes include historic buildings, animals, events, holidays, sports, automobiles, the military, famous people and many, many others.

Because of the phenomenal success of stein collecting, in 1995 Anheuser-Busch began a stein collector’s club. Each year for a nominal membership fee, members join the club and receive a free membership stein. In addition, members are entitled to purchase members’ only steins exclusive to the club. Other benefits they receive include a quarterly stein collecting magazine, secondary market dealer listings, advance notice of new issues and other timely materials.  The Anheuser-Busch Collector’s Club steins (both membership and members’ only) have consistently appreciated in value and have become sought after collectibles.

Many current hobbyists have thousands of steins in their collections. Some steins are issued as a single item, while others are issued as part of a series. Some steins issued in previous years at a cost of $20.00 are worth hundreds of dollars today. Many steins appreciate in value considerably.  If you have not yet begun your collection, it is still easy to start collecting today.

Many steins issued in past years are still available. Bob Lamson Beer Steins Inc., a long time purveyor of steins, has over 20,000 retired and current steins in stock. Many people like to begin their collections by starting the annual Anheuser-Busch Holiday Series which began in 1980 and is currently adding its 25th stein to the series. For as little as $20.00 a person can purchase the recently released 2004 Holiday stein, “The Budweiser Clydesdales”.

This is a great hobby for anyone! Start collecting today!!!
